Sophie was the beloved companion of Oprah Winfrey. When Sophie succumbed to kidney failurein 2008, Oprah dedicated one of her shows to the dog. The show was an investigation about Puppy farms/ mills. All three of Oprahs dogs came from breeders but she was so shocked by the plight of the puppies featured she said that in future she would adopt dogs from an animal shelter.
