HERCULES - Grizzly Bear
Hercules the Bear was owned by Andy Robin and his wife Maggie. They bought him as a cub from a wildlife park in Aviemore Scotland 1975.
Andy was a wrestler and as the bear grew they enjoyed wonderful wrestling bouts together.
Hercules appeared in a number of Tv productions and was at the height of his popularity in the 80's. Whilst filming a tv commercial in the Outer Hebrides, Hercules escaped and was missing for 24 days. He was eventually caught and the resulting publicity gave him international fame. He appeared with Roger Moore in the James Bond film Octopussy. Unfortunately Hercules suffered a slipped disc in his back and his tv career ended. He eventually died from old age in 2000.
